A study tour to Singapore was held by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in July, with over 50 undergraduate students taking part. The project allowed the participants to take courses on arts, finance and technology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and to visit local government agencies and renowned companies.
The students took a course on advanced biomaterials technology, learning about the current status of biomaterials and their applications in medical and environmental fields at NTU.

They also learned about sustainable development, exploring the critical role new energy technologies play in combating climate change at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
A course on artificial intelligence (AI) was held at NTU, covering the applications of new technologies, which sparked discussions among students about AI's potential applications across various industries, such as manufacturing, smart city and healthcare.
The students participated in class discussions and engaged in in-depth exchanges with doctoral and master students from NTU and NUS about AI ethics and data security.
Group presentations were organized on topics such as "Singapore's Smart City Development" and "AI Applications in Finance", showcasing the students' innovative thinking ability.
A visit to a robotics company organized by SUTD allowed students to experience the advancement in robotics technology, sparking their interest in intelligent manufacturing.
Staff at the Monetary Authority of Singapore outlined the country's initiatives and achievements in advancing the development of financial technology, the regulation of digital currency and the application of net-zero action plans. The students gained a deeper understanding of how Singapore maintains its status as an international financial center.

A visit to the Urban Redevelopment Authority provided insights for the students into integrating sustainable development principles into urban planning, prompting them to reflect on urban renewal and the development of China's rural and urban areas.
Ye Haoliang, a student from the College of Engineering shared his gains. "This study tour has given me an invaluable experience. It has broadened my view of the world, guiding my future efforts. I will put into use what I have learned these days and contribute to the society in the future."
Part of the university's Golden Seed project, this study tour aimed at planting a seed of hope in economically disadvantaged students, broadening their global perspectives through international visits.
