Founded in 1970s, the College of Fisheries is one of the earliest colleges to establish a fishery discipline among agricultural universities in the country. It has become a high-level innovative talent cultivation base for fishery professionals and a center for teaching, research and academic exchange.
Its Fishery discipline is a class A discipline, and the two undergraduate majors of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science and Technology are both national-level first-class undergraduate major programs. It has a doctoral program and post-doctoral research station of first-level discipline of Fishery, two doctoral programs of second-level disciplines of Aquatic Biology and Freshwater Ecology, and five master's degree programs of second-level disciplines.
There are 894 undergraduate students, 578 master's students, and 127 doctoral students, including 15 international students and 20 post-doctoral scholars.
It has 70 full-time teachers, including 27 professors and 39 associate professors. Of them, 28 are doctoral supervisors, and 66 master's supervisors. There are five teaching platforms at the provincial and ministerial level and above, including the national experimental teaching demonstration center, and 11 research platforms.
