The College of Food Science & Technology originated from the Department of Food Technology established in 1984. It currently has three departments: Food Science and Engineering, Food Quality and Safety, and Food Nutrition and Health. There are 983 undergraduate and 819 postgraduate students (master's, doctoral and international students).
It has 102 faculty members, of thom 78 are full-time teachers, including 34 professors, 42 associate professors. Of them, 35 are doctoral supervisors and 78 master's supervisors. Four of them receive special allowances from the State Council while several others have been listed as national and provincial talents, winning teaching and research awards.
It has one doctoral degree authorization point and one postdoctoral research station in first-level discipline of Food Science and Engineering, one professional doctoral program in Biology and Medicine, seven second-level academic master's degree programs, and two professional master's degree programs. Food Science and Engineering is a provincial first-level key discipline.
It undertakes 54 national and provincial and ministerial level key research projects and 101 National Natural Science Foundation projects, including two key projects. Its scientific research funding has been stable, with the average annual scientific research funding exceeding 20 million.
From 2011 to 2022, more than 1,800 SCI papers and more than 1,200 EI papers were published, with a total of more than 300 authorized patents and more than 50 appraisal results.
