The College of Humanities & Social Sciences was formed in 1995. It originated from the College of Social Sciences, which was established in 1988.
It has a comprehensive talent training system, with two doctoral programs in second-level disciplines, three master’s programs in first-level disciplines, and four professional degree programs.
There are currently six undergraduate majors, including Sociology, Social Work, Advertising, Law, Visual Communication Design and Digital Media Art. Of these, the Sociology is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site and a provincial first-level key discipline, the Social Work is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, and the Law and Advertising are provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites.
It has 23 teaching laboratories, 46 practice bases, and 111 observation points for internship and social practice of students.
The college has 84 full-time teachers, including 10 professors (5 doctoral supervisors) and 42 associate professors (associate researchers). Among them, 21 have been listed as national and provincial high-level talents.
The college closely integrates the needs of national and social development and focuses on rural sociology and the legal system of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers". In recent years, the college has undertaken over 100 national and provincial and ministerial level projects; published 47 monographs, edited 6 textbooks, and published more than 400 articles included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index. One of its research reports received approval from national leaders, and three received approval from provincial and ministerial leaders.
The research results have won one second prize and two third prizes of the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievements Award and several other prizes.
