Established in 2002, College of Sports of HZAU employs 40 staff members, including 35 professional educators (two professors, 21 associate professors, 10 lecturers, and two teaching assistants), and five administrative and support staff members.
The college features excellent facilities, including two 400-meter standard track fields, a gymnasium with a capacity of over 3,000 people, an athletic training stadium, an outdoor swimming pool, an advanced training base, 27 basketball courts, eight volleyball courts, nine tennis courts and a fitness trail, equipped with various sports teaching and training equipment and health assessment devices.
Adhering to the philosophy of "positiveness, health and harmony", the college organizes a range of campus sports activities, including the "Shizi Mountain Cup" series of games, mini-marathons, alumni sports events, and various fitness training sessions. The college has won numerous championships in provincial and higher-level competitions of track and field, badminton, basketball, volleyball, football and aerobics.
In recent years, the College of Sports has reformed its teaching methods through exploratory and sports model-based approaches, offering over 30 sports courses including rock climbing, archery, golf and wilderness survival.
Additionally, it has continuously strengthened its sports research team, achieving significant progress in research capabilities. It has also made new breakthroughs in various research projects, including those funded or supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences, the General Administration of Sport's Humanities and Social Sciences, and the provincial Department of Education's philosophy and social sciences.
