From May 28 to 29, a delegation led by Yang Shaobo, vice president of HZAU, visited Tarim University for exchanges. They were welcomed by Tarim University’s Party Secretary Zhang Aiping, and President Yan Xianglin. Then, a symposium was presided over by Zhang Hongrong, vice president of Tarim University.
Yang Shaobo commended the achievements made by Tarim University in recent years. He highlighted how it has trained numerous outstanding graduates dedicated to the development of China’s border areas. He praised “the spirit of poplar tree” which has inspired generations of faculty and students from HZAU to devote themselves to the construction of Xinjiang, significantly contributing to the local economic and social development. Yang then emphasized the deep friendship and extensive cooperation between the two universities and pledged full support for the high-quality development of Tarim University in talent training, faculty development, and research. He stated that HZAU would play a greater role in developing this first-class university with distinctive features of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), and in serving the economic and social development of Xinjiang.
Zhang Aiping expressed gratitude for the long-term support and generous assistance from HZAU. She introduced the history and achievements of Tarim University, stating that the university was founded and has thrived due to national strategies. It has adhered to cultivating professionals for the country and has deeply rooted in southern Xinjiang. Zhang hoped that HZAU would leverage its advantages in talent resources, scientific research, and academic programs to collaborate with Tarim University in dealing with the demands of the national strategy and regional development, jointly providing education, technology and talent support for promoting the development of XPCC and Chinese modernization in Xinjiang.
During the exchange, Long Jianfei, Party Secretary of HZAU’s College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences, and faculty representatives Bie Zhilong, Wu Xuefei, Ding Jihua, and Wang Pengwei, expressed their commitment to ensuring effective cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.
During his stay in Xinjiang, Yang Shaobo also visited the dispatched cadres and veteran teachers, encouraging them to enhance their political awareness, actively serve national strategic interests, and contribute to building a beautiful Xinjiang. And faculty from HZAU’s College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences conducted academic exchanges and field guidance at Tarim University.
