A summer camp, jointly organized by the College of Marxism at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) and the Qianmo Shang Xing Volunteer Service Team, was held in Anlejing Primary School, Enshi city, Hubei province.
To better cultivate the rural students' virtue and promote their all-round development, the organizers designed curriculum with more and better educational resources. It's part of their efforts to balance urban and rural education.
The curriculum covered a wide range of topics, including sports, science, arts, law, mental health and traditional Chinese culture.
A variety of activities, such as volleyball, soccer and team-building exercises, were scheduled to enhance students' athletic skills and deepen their understanding of sportsmanship.
The courses on agriculture and physics enabled the students to explore the mysteries of the world, broadening their knowledge and sparking their passion for science.

Moreover, the charm of poetry and calligraphy allowed students to immerse themselves in literature, experiencing the allure of Chinese culture and drawing wisdom from it.
Immersive experiences of intangible cultural heritage and the joy of handicraft exploration enabled students to delve into traditional culture through hands-on experience and become a part of cultural inheritance.
"In class, the teacher taught us a story called The Most Meaningful Life. The little pebble in the story initially envied the crystal and agate for going to the big city, but in the end, it chose to become material for road construction. This made me truly understand the importance of being a contributing member of society," Hou Xianwei, a fifth-grader shared.
The summer camp serves as a bridge, linking volunteer teachers and pupils and increasing knowledge in urban and rural areas.
Deep emotional bonds were formed and warm and touching memories were created during the summer camp.
The volunteers accumulated practical experience and enhanced their teaching and communication skills.
Meng Runxi, leader of the volunteer team, reflected, "When we stood on the podium and saw the students change from being shy to confident, all the efforts became worthwhile. This not only changed the children but also changed us profoundly."
