Chad Hewitt, provost of Lincoln University, New Zealand, led a delegation to Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on Aug 27.
He participated in the new semester activities of the Joint Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University and Lincoln University and visited various university facilities.
Gao Chi, secretary of the CPC HZAU Committee, welcomed the delegation, introducing the university's history, current status, and campus environment. He expressed the desire to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation with Lincoln University, aiming to develop the Joint Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University and Lincoln University into a world-class Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution.
During the visit, Xu Qiang, director of the National Key Laboratory for Germplasm Innovation & Utilization of Horticultural Crops, introduced the laboratory's research team, focus areas and international collaboration projects, as well as the research outcomes related to navel oranges and yellow peaches.

Representatives from Lincoln University talked about their educational strengths and key disciplines, discussing potential future collaborations with HZAU.
At the HZAU Library, Tan Jing, a librarian, demonstrated various smart technologies in use and guided the delegation through the English journal reading room and the Chinese Ancient Agricultural Books Exhibition. Li Pengyun, another librarian, introduced the library's extensive database resources. The delegation engaged in discussions about building literature databases and accessing electronic documents, frequently using their mobile phones to capture the library's impressive digital services.
The delegation also visited the student residential communities and the foreign teachers' apartment block.
In addition, they experienced a unique live-streaming session promoting agricultural products at the university's new media studio.
