Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) presented its original drama, Care, at the university's Activity Center Theater on Sept 23.
The play, performed as a gift for the freshmen, tells the story of Zhang Fuyu, a young teacher who chose to embark on a teaching journey in the remote mountainous region of Enshi, Hubei province, showing the care of conscientious intellectuals for rural development.
As the story unfolded, the audience was drawn into the characters' inner world. From Xiang Yaomei's dedication to Gong Ergou's filial piety, to Xu Siting's cheerful and kind-hearted nature, each role resonated deeply with the audience.
A particularly touching moment occurred when Zhang Fuyu made his life-altering decision, leaving the audience teary-eyed in reaction to his personal sacrifice and determination.

After the play, representatives of the Xu Benyu Graduate Student Teaching Group took the stage, encouraging students to follow their inner callings and contribute to the areas most in need, echoing the spirit of Care.
The author of Care, Xi Zhigan, reflected on the play's enduring legacy: "Written for HZAU's 115th anniversary in 2013 and performed at the National Center for the Performing Arts in 2014, Care has now been staged for 12 years at our university, planting the seeds of faith in 12 generations of HZAU students."
Shi Yixuan, president of the Care Drama Club, shared her thoughts on the play's core themes of "love", "responsibility" and "choice", emphasizing that the Care spirit remains timeless and sacred. She urged freshmen to embrace responsibility and spread love.
