The project was led by Jiang Yushan, a student from the College of Engineering, while team members came from the College of Engineering, the College of Animal Sciences & Technology / College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Economics & Management. Qu Mingli, deputy secretary of the CPC College of Engineering Committee; Peng Zhong, a professor at the College of Animal Sciences & Technology / College of Veterinary Medicine; and Zhang Wei from the College of Economics and Management were the project’s supervisors.
The project is designed to solve the problems of cost of time, complication and high cost in the traditional mode of animal disease detection. By launching a miniaturized animal disease detection instrument based on fluorescence quantitative PCR technology, it provides a "backpack" solution for livestock and poultry quarantine.
"I am deeply aware of the heavy losses brought by animal disease to our country, and we are committed to casting a Great Wall of Steel in terms of quarantine, hoping to break through the pain points of the industry with backpack quick inspection," said Jiang after the final.
"In the future, we will continue to carry out in-depth research to expand the "backpack fast test" to aquatic products, plants and even human diseases to protect global health."
The China College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition is co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Health Commission, the State Taxation Administration and local people's governments. It provides skills training, exhibition and exchange, consultation and counseling, capital docking and other services for entrepreneurial youth.
