A village-based project by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) received recognition at the annual meeting of the University Alliance for Rural Development, held on Dec 15 at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
HZAU’s Yunong School in Anlejing community, Jianshi county, was recognized as one the first batch of 29 accredited university-village cooperation bases in China and one of the three accredited university-village cooperation bases in Hubei after multiple rounds of assessments of 79 candidate projects.
Thanks to collaborative efforts by multiple stakeholders and diverse development strategies, the Yunong School has earned local support and achieved social benefits since its establishment in July 2023.
The evaluation for accredited university-village cooperation bases began in August. It adhered to principles of joint construction between schools and villages, highlighting distinctive features, talent cultivation, business and intelligence integration, emphasizing services such as planning consultation, talent development, technical support, farmer guidance and student projects.
The aim was to establish a group of cooperation bases with refined operational mechanisms, fruitful cooperative results, widespread social recognition and evident radiating effects, paving the way for new models and approaches in building livable, business-friendly and beautiful rural areas.
