A research achievement of Huazhong Agricultural University recently clinched the second prize in the natural sciences category of the 2024 Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award.
The prize-winning research, titled "research and application of graph learning methods for drug discovery", is spearheaded by professor Zhang Wen's team from the College of Informatics.
The team's focus has been on the cutting-edge exploration of graph learning theory and its practical implications in drug research and development, addressing the fundamental requirements of the drug discovery realm.
Over a decade of collaborative efforts, the team has crafted innovative graph learning methodologies, striving to tackle pivotal challenges in drug development and furnishing robust theoretical and technical backing to boost efficiency and success rates in drug research and development.
Researchers are optimistic about the extensive application prospects of this research, spanning domains such as biomedicine, pesticides, and the development of traditional Chinese medicine and injecting fresh impetus into the advancements of related industries.
Professor Zhang Wen is the lead author of the research, while associate professor Liu Shichao contributed significantly to the project.
The Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award, launched and hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, is hailed as the "preeminent accolade in Chinese intelligent technology", recognizing the groundbreaking contributions and remarkable accomplishments of scientific and technological professionals in the realm of intelligent science and technology.
