Four national key research and development projects led by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), along with one project each undertaken by Wuhan Polytechnic University and Shenzhen Shuying Technology Co Ltd, held a joint kickoff meeting at HZAU on April 2.

Yao Jianglin, vice president of HZAU, representing the legal entity, expressed five hopes for each project in his speech. First, he emphasized the importance of being goal-oriented and conducting scientific research targeting national major strategic needs. Second, he called for a problem-driven approach, encouraging focused problem-solving and integrated breakthroughs. Third, he stressed the need to translate research results from the laboratory to the production line. Fourth, he highlighted the value of collaborative innovation. Fifth, he urged all parties to adhere to the spirit of contracts.
Hou Yongqing, vice president of Wuhan Polytechnic University, and Zhang Yan, chairman of Shenzhen Shuying Technology, delivered speeches, stating their commitment to strictly fulfilling the legal responsibilities of the project undertakings and providing comprehensive support for the smooth implementation of the projects.
Representatives of the six projects reported their project execution and management plans at separate venues. The special management team, consulting experts, and representatives of enterprise users engaged in in-depth discussions on the plans, offering suggestions on the selection of target traits during project implementation, optimization of technical pathways, and increasing the conversion rate of research results.
