Mahmoud Siddiq, vice-president of Al-Azhar University of Egypt, led a delegation to Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on May 13. During the visit, the two universities signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their cooperation.
Qing Ping, vice-president of HZAU, welcomed Mahmoud Siddiq and his delegation and provided an overview of the distinctive academic features and international collaboration of HZAU.
Qing highlighted the university's efforts to modernize traditional agricultural sciences by leveraging information technology, engineering sciences, and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the existing foundation of collaboration between HZAU and Egyptian academic and research institutions, expressing a desire to establish a regular student exchange program and deepen cooperation in fields such as animal science, veterinary medicine, and medicinal plant science. This would aim to achieve mutual benefits and address global food security challenges.
Mahmoud Siddiq expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hopes for further collaboration between the two universities in areas such as artificial intelligence, agricultural technology, and Chinese language education. He emphasized the importance of fostering substantive cooperation in academic research and talent development.
