Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), HVSEN Biotech, and Hubei Hongshan Laboratory launched a joint research institute on June 23, marking a major step forward in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry in scientific and technological innovation.
The signing ceremony, held at Hongshan lab's headquarters, was attended by HZAU President and Executive Deputy Director of Hubei Hongshan Laboratory Yan Jianbing, HVSEN Chairman and HZAU alumnus Zhang Weiyuan, and other key representatives from the university, company, and lab. HZAU Vice-President Li Dapeng presided over the event.
According to the agreement, the tripartite institute will focus on collaborative talent development, joint research projects, and technology services. It aims to elevate the quality of talent training and research in the veterinary drug field and promote the integration of artificial intelligence in animal health innovation.
"This partnership marks a new strategic phase in our relationship with HZAU," said Zhang. "We'll continue investing in strong teams and shared innovation models to ensure that research results translate into industrial breakthroughs."
In a gesture of support, HVSEN also donated 2 million yuan ($279,187) to HZAU's educational development fund. A featured research project on artificial intelligence-driven antimicrobial drug development was presented by professor Xue Yu of the School of Informatics.
Yan expressed strong confidence in the partnership, emphasizing the need to align scientific research with industrial goals. "By integrating AI, interdisciplinary teams, and national needs, we aim to create a high-impact innovation model that serves both the market and society," he said.
