Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) and Hokkaido University concluded a 10-day Yangtze River Basin Resources Survey Project from July 11 to 20. This initiative aimed to deepen Sino-Japan collaboration in talent cultivation through academic exchange.
The project assembled a team of nine Japanese students and eight Chinese students, guided by faculty members from both universities. It began on July 11 at HZAU with an opening ceremony.
During the survey, the team visited the Wuhan Baishazhou Agricultural Market and Haid Group's aquaculture base in Ezhou, Hubei province, gaining insights into freshwater aquaculture practices and species in Central China.
A central part of the program was a visit to the Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute of the China Three Gorges Corporation on July 17, where researchers explained conservation efforts for the endangered Chinese sturgeon and other rare species.
The group also toured the Three Gorges Project Museum, gaining insights into China's hydropower development.
On July 20, the students presented their findings, focusing on Sino-Japan aquaculture environments, ecological conservation efforts at the Three Gorges, and a comparative analysis of fish farming technologies.
This collaborative project fostered cross-cultural exchange, provided practical experience to students, and invigorated academic collaboration between China and Japan in the field of aquaculture.
