A summer social practice team from Huazhong Agricultural University's College of Informatics visited Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, and Shanghai for an exchange program from July 23 to 30, combining coursework with on-site corporate visits to gain industry insights and career skills.
The team toured Alibaba's Xixi Campus on July 24, experiencing its vibrant spaces and open culture. Liu Guofeng, deputy general manager of Taobao Education under Alibaba's Taobao & Tmall Group, delivered a session on corporate talent strategy and university career planning, revealing Alibaba's recruitment logic and offering targeted guidance.
Later, Xu Bin, general manager of Taobao Education's local business unit, shared the company’s evolving mission and values, highlighting its commitment to public welfare.
The next day, the group explored China (Hangzhou) Artificial Intelligence Town, home to a number of leading AI enterprises and research institutes. Students were impressed by an in-depth look at Cainiao, Alibaba's logistics arm, and its self-developed AI chip designed for complex logistics tasks with high computing power and low energy consumption.
In a mock interview workshop, former Panasonic recruitment manager Xu Ping provided practical strategies for crafting effective resumes and excelling in interviews, stressing authenticity instead of over-polished self-presentation. Students were very engaged, finding her advice highly applicable to their upcoming job hunts.
The program concluded on July 30 with group video presentations reviewing learning outcomes and forging lasting friendships, marking a rewarding journey of industry exploration, skill enhancement, and career inspiration.
