The 20th International Plant Nutrition Colloquium (IPNC 2025) recently concluded in Porto, Portugal, drawing 413 experts from 41 countries. A nine-member team from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) participated, contributing to the academic exchange.
Focused on "Cultivating Resilience: Plant Nutrition for Food, Feed, and Health", the conference featured 94 presentations and 307 posters, covering key research areas like genetic breeding, biostimulants, nutrient absorption and transport mechanisms.
Professor Ding Guangda from HZAU delivered two presentations that garnered significant attention. His research, titled "The enhanced activity of glutamine synthetase by increasing BnaA02.GLN1;2 expression promotes nitrate uptake and nitrogen use efficiency in Brassica napus" and "High-throughput screening of acid-tolerant and high-yield rapeseed varieties based on multi-temporal UAV RGB and multispectral images", focused on improving nitrogen efficiency and developing techniques for screening high-yield, acid-tolerant rapeseed varieties.
The university's Plant Nutrition Biology team also made a strong impression with a series of high-quality posters. The presentations covered a range of topics, including nutrient absorption, nutrient management, biostimulants, and new plant nutrition technologies. The visually engaging posters attracted many international peers, and the graduate students engaged in deep discussions with experts and scholars from around the world. These contributions highlighted the university's research excellence and commitment to global scientific collaboration.
