The "Training Program for the Capacity Building of 1,000 Pakistani Agricultural Graduates in China", commissioned by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, officially began on Aug 25 at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU). The opening ceremony welcomed 190 Pakistani participants to the university's campus.
In his welcoming speech, Qing Ping, vice-president of HZAU, emphasized the university's commitment to international cooperation. He highlighted the university's long-standing partnership with Pakistan in agricultural science and education, noting that extensive collaboration through academic exchanges, joint research projects, and student training has already produced significant results.
Qing described the new program as a "milestone" in agricultural cooperation history between the two nations. He encouraged the participants to engage actively with their Chinese peers and faculty, learn from China's agricultural development, and take their new knowledge and the friendships they form back to Pakistan.
The three-month training program is designed with a comprehensive approach that combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, scientific research guidance, and cultural exchange. The 190 participants, who are agricultural managers and technical professionals from Pakistan, will be divided into three specialized groups to study aquaculture and processing, fruit and vegetable production and processing, and smart agriculture.
