A delegation from the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest (UVMB), led by President Sótonyi Péter Tamás and Vice President Süth Miklos, visited Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on the afternoon of Sept 18. The visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding collaboration between the two institutions.
During the meeting, HZAU President Yan Jianbing highlighted the close ties between the universities in talent cultivation and scientific research and introduced the strengths of HZAU's veterinary medicine program. Noting the deep friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Hungary, President Yan expressed hope that the visit would promote deeper collaboration in scientific research and veterinary talent cultivation, contributing "Chinese and Hungarian wisdom" to the global community.
President Sótonyi Péter Tamás thanked HZAU for its warm reception and praised the university's achievements in veterinary education and international development. He introduced UVMB's history and unique programs, noting that the university, as one of Europe's oldest veterinary institutions, is eager to deepen cooperation in areas such as animal allergy treatment, epidemic prevention, and food safety to advance the "One Health" initiative.
During their visit, the delegation toured HZAU's teaching animal hospital, specimen museum, metaverse classroom, and various research platforms, praising the university's excellence in clinical teaching and research.
Both universities agreed to continue to advance cooperation, jointly contributing to the development of veterinary science in China, Hungary, and beyond.
