Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) officially signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement on the afternoon of Oct 15 with representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and four Lao universities. The signing, conducted virtually, marks a significant step in deepening international agricultural education collaboration.
Vice President Li Dapeng discussed potential areas of cooperation, including fisheries talent cultivation, curriculum development, scientific research, and industry collaboration. He noted that the groundwork for the partnership was laid through prior exploration of new aquaculture technologies and models, particularly concerning the sustainable utilization of fishery resources in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin.
Li emphasized that this agreement is a concrete action toward HZAU's commitment to international cooperation. The university will leverage its extensive educational resources to jointly explore education models that are best suited to the national conditions of both countries.
The agreement outlines cooperation across several key domains: academic exchange, talent cultivation, research collaboration, and curriculum development. Specific initiatives include exchanging faculty and students, jointly launching scientific research projects on new agricultural technologies, optimizing educational resources through jointly developed curricula, and fostering deep cooperation in critical sectors like fisheries and animal husbandry to promote sustainable industrial development.
