A delegation from the United Nations Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), including representatives from Bangladesh, India, and Mongolia, visited Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on Oct 28. They extensively explored collaboration opportunities in talent cultivation, scientific research, and academic exchange.
Li Shanjun, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering, provided an overview of the college's disciplinary structure, research achievements, talent development, and international engagement. He expressed a strong desire to use this collaboration as a starting point to integrate both parties' resources. The goal is to jointly develop curricula, strengthen faculty, and conduct collaborative research to cultivate top-tier innovative talent with a global perspective.
Marco Silvestri, Deputy Head of UN CSAM, stated that the meeting successfully deepened mutual understanding and established a solid foundation for advancing specific joint projects. Representatives from other nations also shared their research focuses and partnership needs, highly commending HZAU's research capability and academic excellence in intelligent agricultural equipment.
Following the talks, the delegation toured key HZAU facilities, including the National Digital Planting Industry (Orchard) Innovation Sub-center, the Rapeseed Mechanization Research Base, and the Orchard Rail Transport Base.
These visits provided a comprehensive look at the university's innovative achievements and research infrastructure in smart equipment. The delegates offered high praise for HZAU's self-developed intelligent machinery, such as its rapeseed planter, rail transport system, and robotic pickers, pledging full support for future research cooperation.
