The Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) Sports Dance Team achieved outstanding results at the 2025 Chinese University Sports Dance (Ballroom Dance) Campus Formation Dance Championship, held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, from Dec 4 to 8.
The team displayed exceptional synergy and artistic design, securing the championship title in the Group Paso Doble event with a significant advantage. Their performance was marked by flawless formation coordination and creative entry and exit choreography. The team also performed well in the Group Quickstep category, narrowly missing the top spot by just 0.27 points to claim the runner-up position.
This success followed weeks of intensive preparation. Initially, the team focused on mastering the technical difficulty of the Paso Doble, particularly the "no hip movement" technique. Under the guidance of instructor Huang Qing, the team analyzed their movements frame by frame, meticulously unifying standards for elements like arm angles and turning speed.
To ensure error-free formations, the athletes dedicated their lunch breaks to rehearsing complex sequence transitions in the dance studio. This relentless commitment and detailed refinement ultimately created a unique and sophisticated routine that was highly professional and visually impressive, setting them apart in the national competition.
