Dr. Ravi P. Singh, a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University and researcher at Hubei Hongshan Laboratory, has been honored with two of the highest accolades in international agricultural science: the 2025 International Agronomy Award and the Crop Science Distinguished Career Award.
As a world-renowned authority in wheat breeding, Dr. Singh previously served as chief scientist for Global Wheat Breeding at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). His pioneering research has driven a technological leap in the industry. He has spearheaded the development of 334 high-yield, disease-resistant, and nutrient-rich wheat varieties. These crops have been cultivated across 30 million hectares in 28 countries, providing a vital food source for hundreds of millions of people and addressing nutritional imbalances in underdeveloped regions.
Now working full-time in China, Dr. Singh continues to combine his vast international expertise with China's robust research capabilities. By leading strategic international collaborations, he remains at the forefront of building a new global food security framework.
