On Jan 17, the Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) Sanya Alumni Association held its 2025 Annual Meeting alongside a symposium for sharing achievements in agricultural science and industry. The event, hosted at the National Nanfan Research Institute of CAAS, brought together university leadership and alumni to discuss future synergies between academia and industry.
During the session, President Yan Jianbing reviewed the university's recent progress and outlined its strategic trajectory for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30). He emphasized that HZAU will prioritize national strategic needs by breaking down disciplinary barriers. Through the collaborative efforts of national key laboratories and the newly established College of Bio-X, the university aims to cultivate elite talent by involving them in large-scale interdisciplinary teams and real-world industrial practices.
Yan expressed deep gratitude for the alumni's continuous support, urging the Sanya chapter to leverage its regional advantages to strengthen a "community of shared values" between the school and its graduates. The goal is to inject HZAU's collective wisdom into the high-quality development of Hainan province.
The exchange featured presentations from eight alumni representatives, focusing on diverse sectors such as tropical specialty industries, plant vaccines, animal disease control, and spatial multi-omics breeding.
Furthermore, an exhibition of over 10 alumni enterprises showcased cutting-edge achievements ranging from smart agricultural equipment to rural vitalization cases. These collaborative results vividly demonstrated the vitality of the "shared heartbeat" between HZAU and its vast network of graduates.
