A delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) visited two agricultural enterprises in Wuhan on March 23 to deepen university–industry cooperation.
The delegation, led by Long Jianfei, Party secretary of the College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, and Wei Peng, director of the Office of Alumni Affairs, held discussions with representatives from the companies. Both firms are leading high-tech enterprises in China's vegetable seed industry.
During the visit, the two sides exchanged views on scientific research, technology transfer, industrial development and talent cultivation. They also reviewed past cooperation and explored ways to broaden collaboration in joint research and training programs.
He Yafei, general manager of Wuhan Yafei Seed Co Ltd, noted that the company has a long-standing partnership with HZAU, with the two sides having previously worked together to establish teaching and internship bases.
Zheng Wei, chairman of Wuhan Chuwei Biotechnology Co Ltd and an HZAU alumnus, highlighted the university's strong commitment to providing technology and talent, which he said has contributed to the company's development.
Wei stated that enterprises and alumni-owned businesses are vital partners for the university. He stressed that efforts will focus on enhancing communication and fostering practical collaboration to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Long also expressed his gratitude for the companies' dedication to HZAU's academic development and graduate employment. He said he hopes both sides can further strengthen collaboration, improve talent training, and create more opportunities for graduates, jointly supporting the growth of the seed industry.
