Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) signed a cooperation agreement with Guangdong Haid Group on May 11 at Hubei Hongshan Laboratory, marking a new phase in university-enterprise collaboration in aquatic science, industrial innovation, and aquaculture modernization.
Before the signing, the two parties discussed scientific innovation, technology transfer, talent training, and industrial collaboration. Gao Zexia, director of HZAU's Academy of Science and Technology Development, noted that the industrial application of agricultural science relies on the guidance and support of leading enterprises. She said the agreement should serve as a starting point for deeper cooperation in innovation, joint talent cultivation, and social service.
Wang Jian, vice-dean of Haid Group's research institute, said the company is a global agricultural leader driven by science and technology, with important strengths in aquaculture. With close alumni ties to HZAU, Haid Group will combine market demand with scientific research to promote collaborative innovation and high-quality development of the aquaculture industry.
Under the agreement, HZAU will provide technical services and work with Haid Group on three core areas: fish bioreactors, fertility control, and high feed utilization. The cooperation is valued at 5 million yuan ($694,000), according to the university.
The two parties also discussed the future operation of Hubei Huahai Technology Co Ltd and plans to advance the industrialization and commercialization of high-quality aquatic products, including boneless fish.
