Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) has achieved significant progress in global subject rankings and research impact, with its environmental science and ecology fields entering the top 0.1 percent of the Essential Science Indicators database and computer science reaching the top 1 percent.
According to the latest ESI data released by Clarivate on May 14, HZAU now boasts 15 disciplines ranked among the global top 1 percent, three among the top 0.1 percent, and one in the top 0.01 percent, indicating a steady upward trend.
The advancement in environmental science and ecology enhances the university's capabilities in agriculture, life sciences, and ecological research, while computer science's entry into the global top 1 percent underscores the increasing importance of engineering and information technologies in HZAU's academic development.
The university said its recognized disciplines now include agriculture, life sciences, science, engineering, medicine, and social sciences. Its highest-ranking disciplines cover agriculture and life sciences in the top 1 percent, and its top 0.1 percent disciplines entirely cover the agriculture category.
Since HZAU's 11th Party congress, the university added one discipline each in the global top 0.01 percent, top 0.1 percent, and top 1 percent, showing continued improvement in academic influence, research quality, and disciplinary development.
The ESI database, which relies on Web of Science Core Collection data, is widely used to evaluate the global academic influence of universities, research institutions, and disciplines worldwide.
