The 8th Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing for Large-scale Hoggery in China opened at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on July 18. More than 400 experts, scholars, and industry representatives discussed the digital transformation of the pig industry.
Organized by HZAU, the forum focused on smart solutions and smart manufacturing and examined how emerging technologies can support the modernization of pig farming.
Academicians Chen Huanchun from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Qiao Shiyan from China Agricultural University delivered keynote speeches at the event. HZAU vice-president Zhang Yongjun said the university will continue collaborating with other universities, research institutions, and enterprises to advance technological innovation in the pig industry.
Chen emphasized the importance of adopting technologies such as artificial intelligence, smart breeding, precision feeding, and disease prevention to modernize traditional farming methods. He noted that digital technologies could help create a smarter and more efficient system.
During the two-day forum, experts discussed topics such as disease control, AI-powered farming, precision nutrition, environmental management, and green development. The event also featured panel discussions on industry collaboration and innovation.
The forum provided a platform for communication among researchers and companies. It will also contribute to the transformation of the pig industry toward smarter, more sustainable development.
