Students from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) recently won multiple awards at a biology experiment skills competition in Hubei province.
The final round was held at HZAU and Hubei University of Technology at the same time. Nearly 700 undergraduates participated, with 343 students from 53 institutions advancing to the final after campus selection and preliminary rounds held online.
Based on the principle of enhancing learning, practice, and teaching through competition, the event aims to strengthen academic exchange and enhance students' practical and innovative abilities. This year, 69 first prizes, 136 second prizes, and 114 third prizes were awarded.
Focusing on core laboratory skills in biology, the competition assessed students' abilities in standardized laboratory operations, experimental observation, data analysis, and independent experimental design.
It featured four categories: botany experiments, zoology experiments, microbiology experiments, and biotechnology practices. A total of 45 HZAU participants received awards.
Professor Xie Zhixiong from Wuhan University praised the competition for its high standards and effectiveness. He noted that HZAU has hosted the event for 12 consecutive years, with careful arrangements, well-designed questions, and a sound evaluation system ensuring its smooth operation.
