Five teachers from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) attended the 2026 Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) training and academic seminar at Northwest Normal University (NWNU) from July 24 to 26. The event brought together key faculty members from more than 50 universities to exchange experiences in teaching reform and practice.
The five HZAU teachers, all of whom had obtained Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) qualifications, participated in discussions on improving teaching skills and developing facilitator teams. During the seminar, Gillian Grose, one of the initiators of the global ISW program, introduced the core principles and philosophy of ISW.
Professor Li Saiqiang from Shandong University (SDU) reviewed the development and localized practices of ISW in Chinese universities over the past decade. Fang Hong from HZAU's College of Foreign Languages shared the university's student-centric teaching philosophy and experience of supporting young faculty development through the ISW framework.
During the event, HZAU teachers participated in discussions on facilitator team-building and shared HZAU's experience of developing its facilitator team. They also discussed institutional training programs and ISW activity design.
The training will help HZAU improve its faculty development system, strengthen facilitators' capabilities, and enhance teaching quality across the university.
