A delegation of 20 faculty members and students from the College of Plant Science & Technology and College of Life Science & Technology at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) recently completed a summer study tour at Dong-A University in South Korea. Focused on academic research, industrial research, and youth exchange, the program aims to align talent cultivation with international frontiers and promote cooperation in the field of agricultural science.
During the welcome ceremony, HZAU Associate Professor Wang Xun and the dean of the College of Natural Resources and Life Sciences of Dong-A University discussed cooperation in crop genetics, plant stress biology, and smart agriculture, intending to build long-term institutional mechanisms.
The delegation subsequently toured the university's campuses and specialized laboratories, engaging in discussions in frontier topics like microbial sequencing and pesticide residue detection.
To merge classroom learning with industrial practice, the group visited the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (NAQS) to study South Korea's food safety supervision and traceability technologies. They also toured the Urban Farmers modern agricultural enterprise to examine controlled-environment plant cultivation and cold-chain storage technologies.
The program concluded with a research presentation and a graduation ceremony. Student representatives shared insights on bridging academic research and industrial application, noting that the cross-cultural exchange significantly broadened their professional horizons.
This study tour marks a major step in enhancing the global competence of agricultural talent and deepening bilateral educational cooperation.
