Experts and scholars from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and Shenzhen University gathered in Hubei's Wuhan at Xiugu Technology on Aug 21. They discussed AI-integrated research on soil health safety and exchanged insights into Hubei Natural Science Foundation joint fund projects.
Participants emphasized that using AI to strengthen farmland protection is vital for national food security. By integrating remote and ground-based monitoring, AI analysis, targeted remediation and smart equipment, the approach enables soil restoration to become more precise and data-driven.
The meeting highlighted key topics, including remediation materials, quality enhancement technologies for newly added arable land, county-level quality control systems for arable land, and soil-curing physical-biological processes. Researchers also identified emerging areas for further research, including engineered "soil sentinel" bacteria, AI models and digital twins.
Leaders from participating institutions shared collaborative visions. Dean of College of Resources & Environment Cai Peng noted that HZAU will deepen sci-tech cooperation with Xiugu Technology to convert research achievements into industrial applications. Yan Yunjun, vice-dean of the College of Life Science and Technology from HUST, stated that HUST will leverage its interdisciplinary strengths to join the AI integration laboratory led by the company. Other experts contributed proposals regarding hyperspectral remote sensing and biochips.
Feng Nengsheng, executive general manager of Xiugu Technology, concluded that Xiugu Technology will accelerate laboratory construction, increase research investments, and expedite industrial application.
