Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) established the 2026 Sino-New Zealand International Study Summer Camp on Aug 24, welcoming eight students and faculty member Andrew Holyoake from Lincoln University for a two-week academic and cultural journey.
HZAU Deputy Party secretary Li Xiangdong attended the opening ceremony alongside leaders from multiple departments and schools. In his opening address, Li emphasized the enduring partnership between the two agricultural institutions, noting their shared commitment to sustainable agriculture, food security, and environmental protection. He encouraged the New Zealand participants to use the platform to explore China's modern agricultural innovations, experience local culture, and foster bilateral friendships among youth.
Faculty representative Andrew Holyoake expressed gratitude for the robust institutional ties, urging students to broaden their global perspectives through academic discussions and cultural immersion. Wang Fei, dean of the Joint Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University and Lincoln University, subsequently detailed the camp's overarching framework.
Funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship International Summer School Program and hosted by the joint institute, the camp integrates top-tier disciplinary resources in horticulture, agricultural economics, and food science. The program features structured visits to research facilities, cultural experiences, and interactive youth exchanges designed to address global agricultural challenges.
