Led by the school's Vice-President Zhang Yongjun, a delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) visited Sweden from Sept 6 to 10 to strengthen international scientific collaboration, frontier academic exchanges, and joint talent cultivation.
Comprising experts from research development, agricultural innovation, and life sciences, the delegation visited Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, signing cooperative memorandum of understandings (MoUs).
During talks at Chalmers on Sept 7, hosted by Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences member Rikard Landberg and department head Ingrid Undeland, both sides explored synergies in blue biotechnology, food nutrition, and microbiome research, culminating in a signed memorandum.
The following morning, discussions with Chalmers' artificial intelligence and synthetic biology teams established a regularized exchange mechanism for interdisciplinary cooperation.
On Sept 9, the delegation visited KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Meeting with the KTH FOOD platform team led by Francisco Vilaplana, the delegates targeted sustainable food manufacturing, waste valorization, and joint graduate programs.
Furthermore, the delegation hosted the 11th South Lake Forum for International Young Scholars Sub-Forum that afternoon, presenting institutional talent policies and inviting global researchers to join the university.
