The finals of the 7th National Agricultural Industry Vocational Skills Competition for livestock breeders took place from Sept 9 to 11 at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, Hubei province. Over 300 participants — including referees, volunteers, and teams representing 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps — gathered for the prestigious event.
Grounded in advanced national vocational criteria, the competition combined swine production realities to comprehensively evaluate contestants' theoretical knowledge and practical proficiency.
Practical modules tested semen quality inspection, backfat thickness measurement, estrus detection, and artificial insemination. Ultimately, the contest recognized five outstanding teams, five first-prize winners, 15 second-prize winners, 30 third-prize winners, and three exemplary referees.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, this national-level competition operates under the theme "Skills light up the future".
By strengthening veterinary talent development, the initiative boosts industry morale, inspires frontline workers, and provides essential human resource support for high-quality agricultural modernization.
