Led by Vice-President Guo Gangqi, a delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) visited the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the University of Saskatchewan to expand international collaboration.
Accompanied by officials from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and HZAU's news center , the delegation focused on advancing partnerships in sociology, life sciences, food science, plant sciences, and veterinary medicine.
On Sept 22, the delegation met with UBC Vice-President Janice Stewart to discuss joint talent cultivation and collaborative research. A key highlight of the visit was the formal signing of an inter-college cooperation agreement between the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of HZAU and UBC's Faculty of Arts, building upon the ties they established in 2016. Further discussions were held with leaders from UBC's School of Public Policy and Global Affairs and the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.
On Sept 24, the delegation visited the University of Saskatchewan, a top Canadian research university. Interim Provost Patti McDougall and academic leaders joined talks emphasizing complementary agricultural strengths. Both institutions reached multiple agreements regarding collaborative scientific innovation and academic exchanges.
The delegation also toured biological laboratories, held discussions with representatives from the Department of Sociology, and hosted an overseas sub-forum of the 11th South Lake Forum for International Young Scholars, further strengthening global academic engagement.
