A delegation from Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), led by Vice-President Yang Shaobo, completed a five-day visit to the United Kingdom from Sept 28 to Oct 2. The trip aimed to strengthen international academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, and talent cultivation with top UK institutions.
During visits to Anglia Ruskin University's Cambridge and Writtle campuses, the delegation met with university leadership to discuss joint research and interdisciplinary programs. Key conversations focused on life sciences, computer science, and smart agriculture. Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a baseline for strategic faculty exchanges, student mobility, and collaborative scientific endeavors.
At the University of Liverpool, Yang met with senior academics to assess ongoing partnerships addressing critical global challenges, including food security, environmental sustainability, and biodiversity. Highlighting the university's commitment to joint doctoral training and scientific breakthroughs, the delegation signed another pivotal MoU. The team also toured biological laboratories, held symposiums with UK-based young scholars, and met with HZAU exchange students to encourage them to pursue global excellence.
This strategic UK tour underscores HZAU's proactive approach to expanding its international network. By deepening institutional ties with leading British universities, HZAU continues to foster cross-border academic collaboration and advance solutions to pressing global issues.
