Three students recommended by Huazhong Agricultural University recently passed the selection process of the China Scholarship Council's international organization internship program and began their internships at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome.
Assigned to the FAO Youth and Women Office, the students actively engage in initiative implementation centered on youth participation in global agrifood governance. Their responsibilities include developing educational resources, analyzing data, drafting reports, and coordinating high-level conferences.
Additionally, they help advance youth female empowerment and organize "water action" masterclasses. To support decision-making, the team gathers global policy statistics to research youth accessibility to vital agricultural resources, including land, financing, and education.
During their tenure, the interns also helped prepare the flagship World Food Forum. They assisted with campus rallies, main forums on female empowerment, and "water action" workshops.
Immersed in real-world international governance, the students noted that the experience has honed their professional competence, broadened their global perspectives, and yielded valuable practical experience for future engagement in agrifood governance.
