Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Guangdong Haida Group, and Hubei Hongshan Laboratory jointly signed a strategic cooperation agreement on May 11. The three sides agreed to harness technological and industrial innovation to advance the field of intermuscular bone-free fish farming.
Yan Jianbing, president of HZAU, highlighted the significance of Hubei Hongshan Laboratory as a vital research platform focusing on the needs of the agricultural and food industry through biotech innovation. The lab's mission is to develop environmentally friendly, nutritious, and climate-adaptable crop varieties, enhance food nutritional value, and promote sustainable agriculture for food security and public health.
The agreement between the three sides includes strategic collaboration in joint scientific research, technology transfer, and talent development in the agricultural sector. They also signed an exclusive implementation contract for the bone-free grass carp strain and an agreement to establish a joint venture company.
The unveiling ceremony of the Haida Industry Research Institute, jointly established by the three parties, took place during the signing ceremony.
The institute will focus on key areas such as aquaculture breeding, animal nutrition, feed formulation, breeding models, and disease prevention and control. It will engage in scientific research and technological cooperation in major genetic discoveries, breakthrough germplasm creation, evaluation and utilization, as well as the cultivation of new varieties. The goal is to develop a series of cutting-edge technologies, new genes, germplasms, and products with advanced, innovative, and widely applicable features through collaborative efforts between academia and industry.
