National Top-notch Student Training Program 2.0 Base in Basic Disciplines
In September 2020, the training base for top-notch students in biological sciences of the University gained approval as one of the National Top-notch Students Training Program 2.0 bases in basic disciplines. Operating under the guiding principle of cultivating individuals of virtue, the base aspires to establish a premier training center for top-notch students in basic biology disciplines. It strives to cultivate a group of leading talents committed to solving important problems in life sciences, and talents who can make great contributions to world food security, food safety, ecological security, human nutrition and health, etc.
National Life Science and Technology Talent Training Base
In July 2002, HZAU received approval to build a national life science and technology talent training base, being among the first 36 national bases sanctioned for construction. The base aims at cultivating refined and high-level agricultural biotechnology industrialization talents. The graduates of the base are mainly engaged in production, research and development, management, marketing and promotion in the agricultural biotechnology industry, which is mainly engaged in the breeding of new plant varieties and their product research and development, the breeding and research and development of new animal varieties, and the research and development of new veterinary biotechnology drugs.
National Biological Science Base
In October 1996, HZAU was approved to build the fourth batch of national biology science bases, and began to enroll students in 1997. The base aims to train high-level basic scientific research and teaching talents. It takes scientific research and teaching ability training as the core, emphasizes theoretical foundation, and the combination of theory and application. Graduates from the base are mainly engaged in scientific research, teaching, development and management in scientific research institutions, universities and enterprises and institutions. During the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" (1997-2002) and "Tenth Five-Year Plan" (2001-2005), it was rated as an excellent base by the Ministry of Education and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and was one of the four universities that won the title of National Excellent Base for two consecutive times together with Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University.
