A Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event themed "Crafting Lanterns for Mid-Autumn" was held at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on Sept 12.
Around 50 Chinese and international students, along with the dormitory staff, participated in the celebration.

With materials prepared, the students participated in making lanterns after learning the steps and techniques. They assembled the lanterns, pasted rabbit stickers and drew and wrote their wishes on them. They also hung tassels and installed colorful lights. The students exchanged ideas and helped each other during lantern making, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

In the traditional lacquered fan-making session, students experienced the charm of intangible cultural heritage. They selected fan shapes and colors according to their preferences, creatively designing unique lacquered fans.
"Each lacquered fan is unique and very meaningful," said a freshman surnamed Cai.
Eating mooncakes is an essential Mid-Autumn Festival tradition, symbolizing family reunion and harmony. The event provided a variety of mooncakes and introduced international students to various mid-autumn customs.
Mohamed Shoala, an international student, expressed his admiration, saying, "Chinese traditional culture is truly fascinating.”
“I'm very happy to participate in such a rich cultural activity and grateful to the school for providing the opportunity," he said.
The event was jointly organized by the university's Dormitory Center and the University Student Building Management Committee.
