The Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra played the overture for 2025 with the melody of symphony and chamber music at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) on Dec 22 and 23.
On Dec 22, Fu Renchang, artistic director and principal conductor of the orchestra, drew a beautiful arc in the air with his baton and the music began.

The concert opened with a traditional style melody, showcasing the profound historical and cultural heritage of Hubei province, where HZAU is located. Following that, the orchestra performed a series of well-known classic folk songs, each piece rich in local characteristics and ethnic charm.
The piece "The Horse Race" followed, evoking a scene like thousands of horses galloping wildly.
The following Western classical music presented a fusion of music and literature, with the separate pieces telling captivating stories from the classics.
The special chamber music performance held on Dec 23 showed the harmony and beauty of chamber music to teachers and students.
With various kinds of instruments, the musicians played both classical and popular songs, bringing waves of applause from the audience.

The cooperation between HZAU students and the orchestra was a unique highlight of the performance, as the students from the Host Troupe within the College Students Art Troupe stepped on the stage on Dec 22 and presented a moving story to the faculty and students in the form of recitation and music.

At the concert, Yan Jianbing, president of HZAU, expressed his deep gratitude to the orchestra and sent New Year's wishes to all HZAU teachers and students.
Vice-President Li Dapeng encouraged teachers and students to work together to pass on the power of music to more people.
This year marks the 29th consecutive year that the orchestra has performed in HZAU's New Year concert.
