On the afternoon of Sept 25, the Dormitory Management Center at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) organized a joint celebration for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day in the Boyuan and Huiyuan dorm areas. Dorm managers and students gathered to make lanterns, sew traditional xiangbao (Chinese perfume pouches), and share mooncakes in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Ahead of the event, the dorm managers carefully prepared the materials and extended enthusiastic invitations to the students. During the session, the staff patiently guided students in needlework and lantern assembly. Amid frequent interaction and laughter, a freshman remarked, "The company of the dorm managers made me feel the warmth of home. This activity is very meaningful."
During the mooncake tasting, the staff proudly featured a unique rice mooncake made from the university's signature "Huamoxiang" black rice, developed by academician Zhang Qifa's team, highlighting HZAU's distinct agricultural technology.
The Dormitory Management Center also provided postcards, which students used to write greetings in their hometown dialects, conveying affection and longing. Khaled Touil, an international student from Algeria, expressed his appreciation, saying, "The event gave me a deep taste of traditional Chinese culture. The mooncakes were delicious, and making the xiangbao was so much fun. I was delighted to participate."
The celebration successfully bridged cultural gaps and fostered a strong sense of community ahead of the national holidays.
