Undergraduate students from the College of Plant Science and Technology at Huazhong Agricultural University recently brought home rice and rapeseed oil harvested from their immersive practical training in Xiangyang, Hubei province.
Participating in the full crop production cycle, 486 freshmen experienced field management, smart agricultural machinery operation, and grain processing.
Parents warmly praised the harvest, noting its exceptional quality and the profound growth it reflects.
Participating in the full crop lifecycle from sowing to processing, students mastered core agronomic techniques, operated smart agricultural machinery like drones and tractors, and gained hands-on experience of modern farming.
Beyond field practice, they engaged in project-based courses combining genetic editing, smart agriculture, and crop breeding, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application.
During the summer vacation, many students further explored the industry by visiting local agricultural bases, tech enterprises, and science and technology backyards.
By investigating green, low-carbon rice cultivation and seed industry development, these future agricultural talents demonstrated a strong commitment to food security and rural vitalization, translating classroom learning into tangible contributions for modern agriculture.
