    Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) is located in the main urban area of Wuhan, Hubei province in central China.     The university's graduate education dates back to 1953, making it one of the first institutions nationwide authorized to confer doctoral and master's degrees.     The education of international students in our school can be traced back to 1960. In 2003, it became the first batch of pilot units in China for "high-level experts to train highly educated international students".     HZAU scholars continue to improve the orange breed

    ​Li Ningxian, a local healthcare worker and fruit grower in Nanfeng county, Jiangxi province, discovered in 2004 that some of his Nanfeng oranges matured about six weeks earlier than usual. Although he attempted to propagate these early-maturing branches, the variety proved unstable with sugar content. Lacking expertise, Li sought help from Yi Hualin, a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU)'s College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences, who specializes in citrus breeding, with the help of local government.
